The Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter is seeking Support Group Facilitators for Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster, Rockland and Westchester counties. We are requesting that our volunteers live within the seven counties, as we are moving back to in-person support groups. At this time there is a mixture of programs in the community and virtual.
Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. The goal of Alzheimer's Association support groups is to provide emotional, social and/or educational support to group members. As facilitators, individuals may be responsible for general caregiver, adult children, spouse, gender-specific or language-specific groups. We provide comprehensive training and support to help facilitators confidently run their groups.
We ask for a one year committment. We will provide training, support and all the tools needed to be successful!
